Charles Keeping «Through the Window»
Through his window that looked down into a narrow street in London’s East End, Jacob could watch the world go by. He knew all the people and animals and shops in the street, or at least those that came within sight of his window.
The story is seen through the eyes of a small boy who watches the familiar sights and inhabitants of the street he lives on through his bedroom window. He witnesses a dramatic incident as the brewery’s drayhorses escape, but only partly understands the consequences of the event. The vivid colour illustrations were painted on numerous overlaid layers of acetate. It was also produced as a short film for the BBC’s Storytime programme.
